Once in a Lifetime

It was almost 35 years ago when the first and most important radio show in Greece was born on national radio. It was – and it still remains – the show that brought rock and pop music to the Greek audience. The record decks were manned by radio producer Yannis Petridis. Back then he was a young man full of passion for music. His dream was to travel to every corner of the world through the music and lyrics he adored. Now he’s a member of the Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame, one of the biggest record collectors and a national guru for Greek Radio, who forever changed the way his audience listened to music. By following his life’s work and through his personal narrative, we get a glimpse of the social and political changes that have taken place in Greece over the last four decades. A fascinating musical journey, starting from his hometown of Piraeus, to the empty highways of Los Angeles and finally to the streets of San Francisco.

Nicole Alexandropoulou

She grew up in Thessaloniki and Rome. She studied history of art at university and advertising photography at the Insituto Europeo di Design in Rome. During the 12 years of her professional career there, she worked as a photographer for the biggest Italian magazines. In 2000 she wrote and directed her first short film, which won the first prize at the Short Film Festival of Trani Italia. She has participated in solo and group exhibitions of photography in Rome. Over the past three years, she has been living and working in Athens.
