Danis Tanovic
He was born in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and studied Music, Engineering and Film there before war broke out in 1992. He left Sarajevo to study Directing at the INSAS in Brussels. No Man’s Land, his first feature, won numerous international awards, including the Academy Award for Best Foreign-Language Film in 2002 and the Best Script Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2005, he made the French-language feature Hell, from a script co-written by the late Krzysztof Kieslowski.
