With music, dance, and the screening of the smash hit Stelios by Yorgos Tsemberopoulos attended by members of the film’s cast and crew, at the packed open-air cinema “Apollon”, the 4th Evia Film Project, the Festival’s green initiative, carried out with the support of the Ministry of Culture, called it a wrap on Saturday June 21st, 2025. This year, the 4th EFP hosted a grand music feast for its closing, featuring a series of special events in Edipsos and Limni, celebrating in the best way the first day of summertime and Music Day.

The 4th Evia Film Project, Thessaloniki Film Festival’s green initiative which is carried out with the support of the Ministry of Culture, resumed on Friday June 20th, with a series of masterclasses in Agia Anna, screenings, and an all-day discussion in Limni dedicated to the Greek summer. Maria Anestopoulou, the Artistic Director of the ΑΝΙΜΑSYROS International Animation Festival, Yorgos Angelopoulos, the Artistic Director of the Drama International Short Film Festival, and Kostis Charamountanis delivered insightful masterclasses in Agia Anna, within the framework of the Evia Film Project’s specialized workshop, tailor-made for the students from the Department of Digital Arts & Cinema at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, based in Psachna Evia.

An all-day discussion delving into the cinematic universe of the Greek summer was held within the framework of the 4th Evia Film Project, an initiative dedicated to green cinema, organized by the Thessaloniki Film Festival with the support of the Ministry of Culture. During the discussion entitled “Filming the Greek Summer: Light and Myths, Stereotypes and Challenges,” issues such as sustainability, tourism, the construction and deconstruction of the stereotypes that have shaped the Greek summer, as well as the conditions that make filming during summer a rather demanding endeavor were explored.

The 4th Evia Film Project, Thessaloniki Film Festival’s green initiative, went on with full force on Thursday, June 19th, featuring screenings, workshops for both children and film industry professionals, as well as activities and events organized by the Agora. Beloved actress Maria Kallimani, with an outstanding career in cinema, theater, and television, delivered a masterclass in Agia Anna, under the title “Α cinematic journey in front of the camera.”

The 4th Evia Film Project, Thessaloniki Film Festival’s green initiative, continued on Wednesday, June 18th, with screenings, workshops for both children and film industry professionals, as well as with the unveiling of the Agora projects. The legendary cinematographer Nikos Kavoukidis, who has completed 70 years of uninterrupted presence in Greek cinema, attended the screening of the film Jenny Jenny, and spoke with the Festival’s Artistic Director, Orestis Andreadakis.

The opening ceremony of the 4th Evia Film Project, Thessaloniki Film Festival’s green initiative, took place on Tuesday June 17th, at the packed “Apollon” open-air movie theater of Edipsos, with the screening of the feel-good smash hit musical Mamma Mia!, which was filmed in Greece. The Festival’s General Director Elise Jalladeau and the Artistic Director Orestis Andreadakis welcomed the audience, while Vice President Katerina Bei attended the event, representing the Festival’s Board of Directors. Among those honoring the opening ceremony of the 4th Evia Film Project with their presence were the Deputy Minister of Culture, responsible for Contemporary Culture, Iason Fotilas, the Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism of the Region of Central Macedonia, Vicky Hadjivassiliou, the Mayor of Istiaia-Edipsos, Ioannis Kontzias, the Deputy Mayor of Mantoudi-Limni-Agia Anna, Evmorfia Paschalidi, cinematographer Nikos Kavoukidis, film director Yorgos Tsemberopoulos, and actor Fanis Mouratidis.
