Screenwriters (or screenwriter-directors) of the Agora’s Meet the Future of the 64th Thessaloniki International Film Festival participated in the leading event for television series, Series Mania Forum, which takes place every year in Lille, France. The action took place in the framework of the Festival's initiatives for Greek audiovisual works greater outreach and promotion. The Meet the Future event, organized in November, was part of the Agora Series. The actions are implemented within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan "Greece 2.0" with the funding of the European Union - NextGenerationEU and specifically of the integrated project "SUB 6.3 - Market extroversion of the Thessaloniki Film and Documentary Festival".

The Mermaid Award is presented by the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival to the best LGBTQI+ themed film from the Festival’s official selection. The prize, accompanied by a €3,000 cash prize, is awarded by a three-member jury. The members of this year’s committee are: Dimitris Papanikolaou; Professor of Modern Greek and Comparative Cultural Studies at the University of Oxford; Simon(e) van Saarloos, author and curator; and Shane Smith, documentary consultant and festival strategist.

Amidst a warm and moving ambiance, turning the spotlight on documentaries, the filmmakers and the protagonists of their films, the awards of the 26th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival were bestowed on Sunday March 17th 2024. The Golden Alexander of the International Competition Section was bestowed to the documentary My Stolen Planet, by Farahnaz Sharifi.

Within the framework of the 26th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival’s tribute for the 50th anniversary since the Restoration of Democracy in Greece, an open discussion featuring high-esteemed members of the Greek Parliament (ministers and MPs) took place on Saturday March 16th, on the occasion of the presentation of the book “Half a Century of Elections: Discussing the Contests of the Metapolitefsi” (Polis publishing house), edited by political analyst, Petros Ioannidis, and political scientist, Elias Tsaousakis.
