The audience of the 66th Thessaloniki International Film Festival had the opportunity to attend a fascinating masterclass delivered by Frederick Elmes, renowned DoP and longtime collaborator of great filmmakers, on Wednesday, November 5th, at the Pavlos Zannas theater. The masterclass, titled “The Collaborative Art,” was moderated by DoP Simos Sarketzis.

The Thessaloniki International Film Festival and the Athens Epidaurus Festival, two historic Greek cultural institutions, inaugurated the beginning of a creative dialogue with the signing of a cooperation memorandum on Wednesday, November 5th, in the Green Room at the Olympion theatre, within the framework of the 66th edition. The memorandum was signed by Elise Jalladeau, General Director, and Orestis Andreadakis, Artistic Director, on behalf of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival and by Ioannis Kaplanis, General Director and Michail Marmarinos, Artistic Director, on behalf of the Athens Epidaurus Festival.

The discussion “Smarter Sets: Technology in the Service of a Greener Industry” took place on Wednesday, November 4, at the Event Hall of the Thessaloniki Music Center, as part of the 66th TIFF’s Agora Talks. The panel, moderated by journalist Theodoris Georgakopoulos, featured Bassam Alasad (Producer, Cultural Organizer, Climate Storytelling and Production Consultant – Greener Screen), George Chatzivasileiou (PhD, Philosophy of AI, Author and Documentary Director), and Emma Doxiadi (Filmmaker, Sustainability Coordinator – Everybodies).

Sotiris Kraniotis and Kris Radanov, actors, stunt performers, and stunt coordinators from the STUNT-PROJECT team, gave an exciting and innovative masterclass, titled “Movie Stunts - Introduction to the Exciting World of Cinematic Action” on Monday, November 3rd, at the Pavlos Zannas theater. The engaging discussion, moderated by film director Dimitris Nakos, provided the perfect opportunity for the audience to delve into the technical and artistic dimensions of cinematic stunts, and to understand their pivotal role in cinematic storytelling.

The discussion “Do it Right: From Concept to the Festival Circuit” took place on Wednesday, November 5, as part of the Agora Talks at the 66th TIFF. Addressing his opening remarks, Thanos Stavropoulos, Manager of Agora, warmly welcomed the participants and the audience, expressing his gratitude towards the Municipality of Thessaloniki for hosting the event at the Thessaloniki Music Center.

Isabelle Huppert's award winning ceremony took place on Tuesday, November 4th, at the screening of Paul Verhoeven's film Elle, at the packed Olympion theatre. The multi-awarded actress, a guest of honor at the 66th Thessaloniki International Film Festival, was honored by Stelios Angeloudis, the Mayor of Thessaloniki, with the City of Thessaloniki award for her overall contribution to cinema and culture. 

Amidst a festive and heartfelt ambiance, the Agora of the 66th Thessaloniki Film Festival bestowed its awards at a special event held on Wednesday, November 5th, at Warehouse C.
