50th TIFF: Screening of the film Duress

SCREENING OF THE FILM DURESS

In a climate of great enthusiasm the film Duress was screened on Sunday November 15th at the Aristoteleion Theater. The film director Jordan Barker and the film’s protagonist Sakis Rouvas were present.
A little before the actual screening, Konstantinos Piperas, the owner of Hollywood Entertainment which is the distribution company in Greece, welcomed film critic Giannis Zoumboulakis on stage. Zoumboulakis talked about the film stressing that this was “undoubtedly an unusual film”. He also said that Rouvas’ performance was an agreeable surprise and added that film director Jordan Barker “does a good job and has a wide open road in front of him.”

Sakis Rouvas then addressed the audience: “I am sure that some of you here present –I can feel the positive energy- have been with me all through the years. Cinema is something new for me and I am glad that in this new adventure you are here again with me. I hope you will like the film. My role in it will perhaps surprise you, but I hope it will be a good surprise.” He added: “There is another Greek in the film, Dimitris Kontopoulos, who wrote the music. It was I who recommended him to the producer. The fact that it is Dimitris who wrote the music for our film fills me with joy.”

Director Jordan Barker, after thanking the Festival and Hollywood Entertainment, said: “I met Sakis Rouvas last year when shooting the film. Now I know why he is so popular here. He is a very talented person. His role is very demanding and he has worked hard at it, just as we all did in the making of the film.”
