Haris Alexiou is Agora's ambassador at the 64th Thessaloniki International Film Festival

It is an immense joy and honor for the Thessaloniki International Film Festival to welcome one of the most beloved singers of Greece, the renowned artist Haris Alexiou, as the ambassador of Agora, TIFF’s developmental branch.

“I was more than happy to accept the Festival’s invitation to become this year’s Agora ambassador, as the work carried out is highly important” notes Haris Alexiou, while stressing out that Agora’s main goal is “to offer support to the young generation, providing all necessary tools and assistance that will enable it to become a part of the magical world of cinema”. “People from all over the world attend the Festival, bringing along scripts, ideas and unfinished films, showcasing them to top-notch professionals in order to find co-productions, financing and distribution, to develop their network and promote their work to the forefront of the world film market” adds Ms. Alexiou, while looking forward to experiencing first-hand the Thessaloniki International Film Festival ambiance.

The way Haris Alexiou, after making it to the top as a singer, took on a different route and impressed the audience with her acting skills, is deeply touching and inspiring for everyone. The Festival, which has been exploring the affinities between the different forms of art and launching creative dialogues for many years now, as it happened last with the initiative of Agora Series, could not have come up with a more ideal ambassador for its 64th edition. Through her new role, the acclaimed artist will bring forth all the pivotal groundwork that paves the way for tomorrow’s cinema, highlighting Agora’s key role in the creative process.

Her unique voice and the songs she interpreted have made Haris Alexiou a point of reference for the contemporary Greek music scene, having earned an everlasting place in the hearts of the audience. In the course of an outstanding career, sprinkled with mesmerizing performances, a breathtaking stage presence, and the constant seeking of new artistic pathways, she has collaborated with the most iconic names of Greek culture, while actively supporting the up-and-coming artistic voices. In the last few years, by taking part in the TV mega hit Maestro in Blue directed by Christophoros Papakaliatis, in theatre plays staged by the National Theatre of Greece and the “Free Theatre” of Athens, directed by Yorgos Nanouris, Nikos Karathanos, Olia Lazaridou, Stavros Ragias-Vangelis Chatziyannidis, as well as in the short film AirHostess-737 directed by Thanasis Neofotistos, Haris Alexiou is navigating through the different channels of artistic creation with great success.
