Ho Po-wing ans Lai Yu-fai are lovers. They are in Argentina and are traveling in an old jalopy to the Iguazu waterfalls. During the trip, Ho leaves Lai. Lai gets a job as a doorman at the Bar Sur in Buenos Aires and lives in a rented room. While at work one evening, Lai meets Ho and his new lover, a rich American. Ho tries to get back together with Lai, but he refuses. One night, Ho knocks on Lai’s door: he has been badly beaten. Lai takes him to the hospital, and then brings him back to his room to nurse him back to health. They become lovers again.

Wong Kar-Wai
He was born in Shanghai and grew up in Hong Kong. The "enfant terrible" of Hong Kong cinema, his two previous films competed in Cannes: "Happy Together" won him the Best Director award in 1997 and "In the Mood for Love" was presented in 2000 and won Tony Leung the Best Actor prize.
