Small Revolts

A small town in northern Greece: the film begins with Anna’s monolog in a theater rehearsal in a coffee shop. Manos, obsessed with Panselinos (a 13th century Byzantine painter), himself hidden inside a trivial life, watches her. It is the turning point for both of them. Anna, married to an abusive man, is mesmerized by Manos’ paintings and his kindness. They develop a powerful passion. Anna is pregnant; against all odds, she decides to keep the baby and leave her husband. After some time, Manos and Simeon, Manos’ friend who used to be a monk, travel to Anna’s town. Anna is there with her baby. The full moon promises its own light – nothing more, nothing less.
