The Return of the Taliban

In September 2006, in Afghanistan’s eastern provinces, operation “Mountain Fury” was set into motion. Sotiris Danezis, who was a war correspondent during the US intervention in 2001, returns to Afghanistan for a third time and joins a unit at the front line. On the anniversary of 9/11, he follows a platoon of US soldiers whose mission is to locate and kill the Taliban fighters active in Gazny province. On the first day of the operation, late in the afternoon, the military convoy is ambushed... War Zone’s camera has filmed harsh images from the front lines of the war against terrorism and investigates the reasons for the resurfacing of the Taliban, five years after the US overthrew their regime.
