European Film Festivals introduce Launchpad to support emerging film professionals

The Locarno Film Festival, Thessaloniki International Film Festival, Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, IFFR and Karlovy Vary International Film Festival have joined forces in a new initiative: Launchpad. Launchpad aims at facilitating the integration of selected emerging film professionals working in international sales, marketing, traditional and online distribution, exhibition and programming, funds and commissions by giving them facilitated access to a network of film festivals in the yearly calendar.

Invisible and tangible ghosts, both scary and familiar, real and allegorical, will take center stage in the large-scale tribute "Fantasmas" of the 64th Thessaloniki International Film Festival, curated by the artistic director of the New York Film Festival and internationally acclaimed film critic, Dennis Lim.

The Thessaloniki Film Festival is intensifying its efforts for the greater extroversion of Greek cinema and its promotion abroad. The Festival gives the opportunity to film professionals from Greece who have participated in Agora, to travel to large international film festivals, in order to promote their work. The actions are implemented within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan "Greece 2.0" with the funding of the European Union - NextGenerationEU, within the integrated project "SUB 6.3 - Market extroversion of the Thessaloniki Film and Documentary Festival".

Nikos Portokaloglou's big concert in Edipsos closes the curtain of the 2nd Evia Film Project, Thessaloniki International Film Festival's green initiative hosted from June 20th to June 24th in Northern Evia. Nikos Portokaloglou, Vicky Karatzoglou and Byron Tsourapis carried the audience away with the most popular and cherished hits of the beloved singer and songwriter.

Within the framework of the 2nd Evia Film Project, cinematographer Olympia Mytilinaiou, who has collaborated with renowned creators from Greece and abroad, delivered a masterclass on Saturday, June 24th, in Agia Anna, titled "How to Find the Light," explaining to the audience all the unseen and magical aspects of her profession.

Renowned director, screenwriter, and producer Elina Psykou, known for her critically acclaimed films The Eternal Return of Antonis Paraskevas and Son of Sofia, delivered a masterclass titled "Filming Adult Fairytales" on Saturday June 24th, in Agia Anna, guiding the audience through the symbols and the imagery of her personal directorial universe.
