Avoid sunbathing and stay in shady and cool places away from crowded areas.
Avoid walking for long periods or running under the sun.
Prefer light, comfortable, and light-colored clothes made of natural materials to facilitate body ventilation and sweat evaporation. Choose a hat that ensures good head ventilation. Wear black or dark-colored sunglasses with a special coating that protects against sun glare.
Ensure your diet consists of light and small meals, emphasizing οn fruits and vegetables. Limit fats.
Drink plenty of fluids (water and fruit juices). If you sweat a lot, add salt to your food. Avoid alcoholic beverages.
Take lukewarm showers during the day and if needed, place wet clothes/towels on your head and neck.
People suffering from chronic illnesses (respiratory, cardiovascular, etc.) or taking medication, consult your doctor for special instructions.
Avoid long journeys with public transport when the heat is very high.
For infants and children
Dress them as lightly as possible. Make sure their hands and feet are free and not wrapped in diapers.
Make sure they do not stay under the sun after swimming in the sea and that they always wear a hat.
Besides milk, it is recommended to give them other fluids. Consult the pediatrician.
For older children, ensure they drink plenty of fluids (water and fruit juices) and they eat more vegetables and fruits and fewer fats.
For bathers
Do not stay in the sun for too long, especially during the first baths, as there is a risk of sunburn and sunstroke.
Get out of the sea immediately if you feel chills or dizziness.
Do not swim on a full stomach. Ideally, you should wait at least 3 hours after your last meal before entering the sea. Similarly, avoid entering the water on an empty stomach.
Do not consume alcoholic beverages before swimming.
Do not stray far from the beach. Ideally, swim parallel to the shore.
Avoid diving in areas where you do not know the depth or the bottom's formation.
If you get a cramp in the water, lean forward, take a deep breath, and submerge your head in the water, moving your legs to float and stretch the muscle that hurts in the opposite direction of the contraction.
