The 64th Thessaloniki Film Festival bestowed the honorary Golden Alexander to the iconic Italian movie star Monica Bellucci, for her overall contribution to the art of cinema. “I am honored to be the recipient of this award and I’m especially moved to be here, in Greece,” she stated upon receiving the honorary award from the Governor of Central Macedonia Region, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, at a special event held on Thursday evening, November 9th, at the packed Olympion theater.

Monica Bellucci, symbol of timeless beauty, one of the most glamorous stars of world cinema and an official guest of this year's Thessaloniki Film Festival, attended the screening of the film Maria Callas: Letters and Memoirs, at the packed Olympion theater. Directed by Tom Volf and Yannis Dimolitsas, the film features Bellucci in a starring role. The actress will receive the Festival’s honorary Golden Alexander Award on Thursday, November 9th, before the special screening of Giuseppe Tornatore’s, Malèna (2000).

The Agora of the 64th Thessaloniki Film Festival bestowed its awards at a special event held on Wednesday, November 8th. The head of the Agora, Angeliki Vergou, welcomed the audience and stated: "It’s been a very productive 6 days full of meetings, screenings, and hopefully new collaborations. We hope you enjoyed your stay in Thessaloniki and that you go back home happy with your experience. We are sure we will watch your wonderful films in the dark room of a theater and / or on a big or smaller screen in the comfort of our own house.
