The 66th TIFF (30/10-09/11/2025) hosts a tribute on the technique of plot twist, adopting a subversive approach on this valuable narrative tool. The tribute titled Plot Twist, Beyond the Sixth Sense goes beyond the most popular and manifest plot twists found in cinema, casting a glance on rare and lesser known films, shot over the last fifty years, from 1976 to 2025. The formation of the tribute’s programme was carried out by art curator at The Renaissance Society at The University of Chicago director Myriam Ben Salah, who will undertake the curation of France's pavilion in the upcoming Venice Biennale, scheduled to be held in October 2026. 

The posters of the 66th International Film Festival (30/10-9/11/2025) bear the signature of the acclaimed Greek visual artist Stefanos Rokos, who created two original works for the Festival’s poster. These works also inspired the 66th TIFF’s spots, two short animation films, directed by Stefanos Rokos and film director and animator Fokion Xenos, and scored by Jim Sclavunos.

The Agora of the 28th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival (5-15/3/2026) invites documentary filmmakers to submit creative and TV documentaries, documentary series, as well as documentaries for children, to the Thessaloniki Pitching Forum, Agora Docs in Progress and Agora XR Lab sections. 

The 66th Thessaloniki International Film Festival (30/10-09/11/2025) will bestow its honorary Golden Alexander to the renowned Greek filmmaker Yorgos Tsemberopoulos, while hosting a full-scale tribute to his work. Yorgos Tsemberopoulos will also deliver an open masterclass, where he will share the secrets of his art. 

We would like to inform you that the submission window for the Podcast section of the 66th Thessaloniki International Film Festival is extended until Friday September 12th 2025, 5pm.

The Thessaloniki Film Festival continues its efforts for the greater extroversion of Greek cinema and the promotion of Greek filmmakers abroad, with the support of the Ministry of Culture. The Festival gives the opportunity to two film professionals from Greece who have participated in Thessaloniki Locarno Industry Academy, to travel to the Locarno Film Festival and participate in Locarno Pro. At the same time, the directors who participated in the Agora Short Film Lab of the 65th TIFF will take part in the Cinelink of the Sarajevo Film Festival, where they will have the opportunity of networking with film professionals from abroad and discuss their new projects.
