A few words on the films:
The Bishop’s Wife
Director: Henry Koster. Screenplay: Robert E. Sherwood, Leonardo Barcovici. Cast: Cary Grant, Loretta Young, David Niven. Language: English. Black & White, 109΄.
An angel (Cary Grant) arrives on Earth with a mission to offer guidance to a bishop (David Niven), who seems to have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas and his duty: taken over by an obsession to renovate his church, he neglects his family forgetting that people are far more important than a building. Using his charm as a means of persuasion, the angel softens people’s hearts, striving to restore the bishop to the path of kindness and love, as Christmas are only a few days away. One of the loveliest Christmas movies, full of tenderness and humor.
*The movie was nominated for 5 Oscars and won the Academy Award for Best Sound.
